The PHR Student Program will hold six Know, Dare, Act Regional Advocacy Institutes. These institutes will be held between late September to mid November and will bring together student chapter members and other health professional students, from throughout your region, who are interested in health and human rights. Together you will learn about pressing human rights matters and develop your skills as advocates.

Register now by clicking the RSVP button on the right.

With the help of guest experts and experienced PHR national staff, the regional institutes will demonstrate the influence of health professional advocates and help you to gain new connections & ideas for creating change. In addition to education about important health and human rights topics, the institutes will also hold workshop sessions to cover how to influence policy makers, how to recruit for a cause and other avenues of outreach and advocacy.

Dates and locations for each region’s Institute:

Some topics the Institutes will cover are:

  • The power of health professionals as advocates
  • The Feminization of HIV/AIDS
  • US torture policy and health professional involvement in it
  • Human rights in the asylum seeking process
  • Media and community outreach as vehicles of change
